Residents and road users are being advised of planned roadworks taking place in the Overton and Bangor-on-Dee area over the coming weeks.
The works include resurfacing on the B5426 Bangor-on-Dee, known as the Straight Mile, which is currently scheduled to take place from Monday 13 July to Wednesday 29 July. During this time, the road will be closed, and a signed diversion route will be in place via A528 Overton Road, B5130 Kiln Lane and A525 Bangor Road.
Seperately, works are also planned on the A528 Cinders to Overton scheme, with a closure from the Cross Foxes Public House area to the A528 Salop Road junction in Overton village for major water mains renewal works. These works are currently expected to run from Monday July 20 to Thursday September 3.
Although there will be some overlap between the works and associated diversion routes, the impact is expected to be managed through coordinated traffic management arrangements. The traffic management companies involved are aware of the nearby schemes, and any sections where diversion signage meets will be clearly signed to avoid confusion.
Road users are being asked to follow the official signed diversion routes, allow extra time for journeys and avoid using unsuitable lower-classification roads as alternative routes. The approved diversions have been assessed for safety, capacity and suitability.
Councillor David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment said, “We appreciate that these works may cause disruption for residents, businesses and road users in the Overton and Bangor-on-Dee area, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
“These schemes are important to improve local infrastructure, including road surfaces and utility networks, and officers are working with partners and traffic management contractors to coordinate the works and minimise disruption wherever possible.”
