Our Executive Board meets on Tuesday and we’ve taken a quick look at what’s up for discussion this month.

Members will be asked to approve a public consultation on the Council Plan for 2020/21 which is expected to begin on June 12. Members have already approved the six priorities going forward which are:

  • Developing the economy
  • Ensuring a modern and resilient council
  • Ensuring everyone is safe
  • Improving the environment
  • Improving secondary education
  • Promoting good health and well-being

They’ll also be asked to approve the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site Management Plan for 2019-2029, as recommended by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), who inscribed the site with World Heritage Site status in 2009.

“Reinforces the vision for the World Heritage Site”

The Management Plan provides a brief summary of why it was inscribed, along with its outstanding universal value, cultural significance, attributes, authenticity and integrity. It also has an action plan that identifies the lead organisations, timescales for delivery and sets out a monitoring process.

The plan reinforces the vision for the World Heritage Site, which is: “To inspire people to celebrate, enjoy and value the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site safeguarding it for future generations.”

Further down the agenda members will take a look at the Welsh Language Annual Monitoring Report and they’ll also will be asked to approve the appointment of members to our various committees, sub-committees, panels and working groups.

If you want to read the full agenda you can do so here.

Don’t forget the date: June 11 at 10am at the Guildhall. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

The meeting is also webcast and you can watch live here.
