Yes folks, today is the first day of Recycle Week 2019. It’s the perfect time for all of us to up our recycling game and do our bit for Wrexham.

“Make a lasting impression”How we can make a difference?

Recycle Week runs from September 23-29 and we’ll be giving you a recycling tip each day on our social media, so keep your eyes peeled for these.

We’ve also got pupils from St Mary’s CP school visiting our Education Room at Bryn Lane recycling centre during the week.

This year’s theme is ‘recycling – it’s in our own hands’ with WRAP saying that “2018 was the year Britain woke up to recycling, 2019 is the year we’re taking action”.

“Make a lasting impression”

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said, “As we’re into Recycle Week, it’s a great opportunity to remind ourselves about the things we can or can’t recycle. We understand there’s a lot for people to remember and this can sometimes seem overwhelming, but we all need to get involved.

“This year’s theme is ‘it’s in our own hands’, which is very true as it’s up to each and every one of us to make a difference. Every single item you recycle adds up and by taking the initiative together to recycle all that we can, that’s how we’ll make a lasting impression and hit our recycling target of 70% by 2025.”

How we can make a difference?

As Cllr Bithell just touched upon, one of the biggest problems people face is recognising which items can or can’t be recycled. But please, please don’t let this put you off. We’ve spent the entirety of 2019 putting together a series of blog articles that contains all this information and you can access them all from here 🙂
