Dementia Interpreter Course – Booking Essential

Do you live in Wrexham or work with people living in Wrexham? Would you like to understand how to better communicate with people living with dementia?

The dementia interpreter course is designed to help people understand how to communicate with people with dementia and to recognise that some behaviours are often a way of telling us something.

By understanding this behaviour, we can then reduce the frustration that losing the ability to talk can cause.

Renew your green bin for 2022/23 now – collections begin from September!

That’s why we’ve worked with leading organisations and experts in online safety to create a whole range of relevant, straightforward information and advice on the Keeping Safe Online area of Hwb.

There’s specific information for parents and carers including guides that cover what you need to know about the most popular social media and gaming apps children are using today.

Although we were not awarded the title for 2025, the momentum and progress generated by being part of the competition has continued with an increased knowledge and confidence of the diverse cultural offering in Wrexham.

We have a vibrant arts and music scene, an amazing football club (with amazing owners), a World Heritage Site, world-class businesses and lots of strong and passionate communities.

Armed Forces Champion, Cllr Beverley Parry-Jones, said, “Now more than ever we need to appreciate the sacrifice our armed forces make to ensure our freedoms and rights are protected. Sometimes this means making the ultimate sacrifice. I am very much looking forward  to showing my appreciation on 3rd September.”

  • Council tenants urged to say “NO” to cold callers

Council tenants urged to say “NO” to cold callers

We’ve recently had a number of enquiries from our housing tenants concerned about males going from door offering “Housing Disrepair Services.”

They claim that they can ensure housing repairs are done quicker than the Council are able to offer.

They then gain access to properties and take images which are then forwarded to a claims solicitor.

Get news and info from your local council – sign-up for email bulletins.

It is believed that tenants are coerced in to allowing the individuals into the property so images can be taken along with important personal information.

The tenant is required to sign documentation but this documentation is removed by the males so it is unknown what the tenant has signed up to and the financial risks they may face.

Trading Standards strongly recommend that consumers DO NOT deal with cold callers on the doorstep or on the telephone regardless of what product or service they are offering.

Do not give any of your personal information to cold callers and remember if something seems too good to be true it probably is. If in doubt keep them out.

If you require any advice regarding this matter or any other consumer matter please contact Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 08082 231133.

If you have any concerns about your property please call your local estate office or the housing repairs team on 01978 298993 in the first instance to find out why a repair is taking so long to be carried out.

If you’re still not happy then you are advised to contact a solicitor.

If you are currently waiting for a repair to be carried out our housing repairs team will be writing to you to ask you to make contact to make an appointment, please ensure you make contact so they can make an the necessary arrangements.

But what about the building itself? What is its story?
