The North Wales Women’s Night Safety Charter (NWWNSC) is an initiative designed to improve the safety for all women in the night-time economy. It’s specifically aimed at employers with a female workforce and customer base who are at the venue in the evening, at night or early morning.
The Charter provides a practical toolkit and sets out six straightforward actions venues can take to strengthen women’s safety, including appointing a Safety Champion, supporting staff training, improving reporting routes and enhancing safe venue design.
By becoming a signatory, venues will help lead the way, setting a strong example in Wrexham and playing a key role as the Charter expands across the wider region, supporting a consistent, positive approach to women’s safety throughout North Wales.
The charter has been developed with the input from a range of stakeholders and experts in their field. This will be the first charter of its kind in Wales.
Launch of the charter is at Ty Pawb on Tuesday 21st April 1:30pm – 3:30pm at Tŷ Pawb.
A warm welcome to all licensees and bar staff.
Gender-based violence, domestic abuse and sexual violence Champion Cllr Beverley Parry Jones: “I’m pleased to see that this important initiative will begin in Wrexham before being rolled out across North Wales. “It will support night‑time economy venues to create a safer, more welcoming spaces for women who work in or visit your premises”.
Police and Crime Commissioner Andy Dunbobbin said “The North Wales Women’s Night Safety Charter is about taking practical, visible action to make sure women feel safer around our night‑time economy. “By signing up, venues are showing leadership and commitment to creating environments where women are respected, supported and protected. “Starting in Wrexham gives us a strong foundation to build a consistent approach to women’s safety across North Wales – something I fully support as Police and Crime Commissioner for the region.”
